Welcome to the SB Deep Space 5

Deep Space 5 is a Celestial class Starbase, assigned to Task Force 21-C "The Guardians" in Obsidian Fleet.

This sim is a PG-15 rated Play by SMS / Web/ E-mail(PBW/E) roleplay sim based in the Star Trek universe around the time frame of the Star Trek: Nemesis movie. We do not currently endorse the AU in which the destruction of Romulus occurs.

Please note that if you are NOT 15 years old or above, you WILL be denied membership.

DS5 is searching for crew members. Take a look around the website and if you like what you see, why not join us? We would love to have you aboard! If you have any questions, you can email Captain Tasha Tahir, Commanding Officer at tasha@ds5.co.uk or the Executive Officer, Commander Karen Villiers XO@ds5.co.uk.

If you'd like to join, please use the 'Join' link on the right. Be as thorough in your application as possible. NOTE: You may apply for positions currently held by NPCs. If you do not see the position you would like listed on the Open Positions List, please let us know in your application - the chances are that we will be happy to create it for you!

Deep Space 5 has a long history as a fun and dynamic sim. As with the inhabitants of the space station upon which we base our stories, as a group of writers we are a diverse bunch that bring an array of styles and tastes to the universe we all have in common. DS5 is more than just a conduit for creative writing and immersion in the Star Trek universe - it is a collective of individuals and an ongoing collaborative project of ideas.

Welcome to our website. We hope this will be the first step for you in an exciting journey with us.

SMS, the system on DS5 works, is no longer I am afraid. Most of you will probably already be simming on Nova, but I have not been a fan since it's inception.
Unfortunately, following my mistake as in the OOC, I was looking on the Anondyne forum for some support and well, SMS is no longer supported.
I still have too many niggles about upgrading to Nova V1..., but having spoken to David Van Scott, I am keen on the improvements made in Nova 2.0, which is due for full release later this year.

Now, this means that for the next few months, we will still be using this site, but at some stage, we will be upgrading to the new Nova. Whether that means a totally new site, or just a massive upgrade to this, I am not yet sure, but I wanted you all to know.

Time line updates

Hello All!

I have (finally) updated the Timelines for DS5

My excuses are many, mostly centering on the fact that I got made redundant, so I now look after Matty full time, and since he is now a very energetic little toddler, as opposed to the easy to hold in one hand new-born he was when i started this exercise, I've kind of let things slide a bit

But new year, new broom and all that, so the new timelines are up on the OOC site in PDF, or pm me if you want me to just email them to you.

As always there are more than a few posts without time or date on their posts and that I can't guess when they are (You know who you are, if it carries on, i will start mentioning names ;p) I would be extremely grateful if anyone who has left a date vague could let me know when they think their posts are - and if you ever need to know when we are, please feel free to ask, I'm pretty good at knowing.

Just so everyone knows, for purposes of book keeping, posts set in SD 40 to Sd 48 will end up in the Judgement records, so the Incommunicado records will be kept to those posts immediately relevant to things likely to impact Incommunicado.

So go enjoy the timelines and get caught up with where we all are.

Regards
Yolanthe/Notty
Awards

As we are approaching the end of the month, I feel that you as the crew, should nominate those you feel are deserving an award.
We have not had a good award selection for a few months, so please, feel free to hit "Award Nominations" from the list in your control panel and cite a deserving member for an award you feel they deserve.
Next month, I will run the "Crews Choice" on the OOC, so if you have not signed up, please do so.

Timeline

I can see some of us are getting confused with the timeline, so I'll do my best to straighten things out as I really want to get this underway at SD55 next week, which puts us into February.
As of now, if we can keep posts between SD49 - 54, we can start out in earnest next month, fingers crossed.

SD38 - 54 Backposts leading up to when things start to go awry on SD55 when we start to have issues with communications.

Below will give you good indication of where we are and what the plans are and are NOT set in stone, but a darn good guide from what I have patterned from the posts thus far:

=======================
SD40 - Harsh Reality Check/Welcome home - Details about the forthcoming memorial for Wallace & Rhianis appointment as CIO and Petros return to DS5
SD41 - SD48 - At leisure
SD49 - Neglect - Promotions and a crushing blow for Trellis ('Reflect' Post in writing in whihc Tasha will spend soem tiem withdrawing into herself and sorrow for Gabriel and her lack of actions)
SD50/51 - Deflect - Tasha talks to Dorian, at last!
SD51 - Final Arrangements#; Plans for the memorial are being finalised.
SD52 - Memorial for Wallace
SD53 - TBC
SD54 - Girauna Arrives to take over as CIO
SD55 - Communications start to fail over the longer ranges. Up to now, the occasional glitch in communications is nothing to worry about, or so it seems. Petro will bring this to the attention of command.
SD56 - No comms to Starfleet
SD57 - No comms to nearest star system
SD58 - No comms to ships in the region
SD59 - No comms to anything but ships in the immediate vicinity
SD60 - Science will discover the cause of the Comms failures, an alien lifeform that is growing in space.

SD61+ See what happens.........

Have fun and enjoy,

Mark
